The ANO rotary encoder wheel is a funky user interface element, but the pin-out is a little odd - and there's a ton of pins needed to connect. This Stemma QT breakout makes all that frustration go away - solder in the ANO and the breakout takes care of almost everything else This rotary encoder uses a 4-pin Sparkfun Qwiic-compatible connector called STEMMA QT, which allows it to communicate over I2C without soldering.
