OpenMCT: an open-source DC motor control educational kit
Alejandro Von Chong mail
Control is often taught mainly through math and simulation, which can limit exposure to real implementation. OpenMCT is a low-cost, open-source DC motor control educational kit for end-to-end labs—from drive electronics and sensing to sampling and real-time control—using a Teensy 4.x, encoder feedback, current sensing, and an H-bridge. A Python/Qt GUI supports telemetry, logging, excitation, and tuning. Results align with MATLAB.
