Low-cost, portable device for the study of the malaria parasite's growth inhibition via microwave exposure
Alejandro Von Chong mail
Recently, a microwave-based method to inhibit malaria parasite growth was proposed. Challenges arose from high-cost and immovable equipment. This work presents the redesign of an equivalent, portable, and cost-effective system. Comprising an RF generator, RF amplifier, and a GUI, the system also features a redesigned RF applicator, resulting in a five-fold return loss improvement. Results reveal a 90% parasite growth inhibition, matching the original's performance at less than 1% of the cost.
