The project presents the restoration and modernization of a legacy CubeX Duo 3D printer into an open-source CoreXY FFF platform controlled by a Duet 2 Maestro board. Original components, including stepper motors, structural elements, and linear shafts, were reused and integrated with newly manufactured parts. A load cell was added to the extruder to measure extrusion force in real time, enabling nozzle back-pressure characterization, extruder skip detection, and feed-speed limit identification.
