This project focuses on constructing, operating, and maintening the low-cost glass crusher built within a master's thesis of Philippe Colbach at Global Health Engineering, ETH Zürich, Switzerland. Sustainable Cape Maclear, a Malawian NGO, has been working on the development and implementation of a solid waste management strategy to address the village’s struggle with waste build-up at informal dumpsites. To support the effort, the glass crusher, was designed, constructed and tested.
